Center for Hydrogen Safety - Ventilation Considerations for Hydrogen Safety
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7 AT 11:00AM EASTERN. This free, live webinar, to be held on Tuesday, December 7 from 11:00AM - 12:30PM ET, will provide an overview and guidance on ventilation to prevent and dilute the formation of flammable hydrogen-air mixtures. Information will include a review of relevant standards, guidelines, and approaches to achieving effective dilution for potential design-basis hydrogen release scenarios. Existing applications and previous incidents will be discussed. You will be able to download and print a certificate for PDH credits after you have attended the webinar.
Speakers
- Robert Zalosh - Dr. Robert Zalosh is currently a consultant on industrial fire and explosion protection and also a Professor Emeritus of Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, Massachusetts. His research activities at FMRC and WPI involved explosion and special fire hazards, of flammable gases and liquids and combustible powders. Currently, he advises clients on hazards and appropriate protection for flammable gases and combustible dusts. He also does fire and explosion incident investigations and serves as an expert witness in ensuing litigation.
- Will Lowry - Will Lowry works in the BakerRisk San Antonio office in the Blast Effects Section. His work is focused on analytical explosion analyses using approaches ranging from simplified (e.g., blast curve methods, NFPA 68, etc.) to detailed (i.e., Computational Fluid Dynamics). In addition, his work over the last 11 years has included over 40 accident investigations, high-pressure hazards testing, and experimental combustion research involving a wide range of hydrocarbons, hydrogen, and fuel-air-inert systems.
- Dr. J. Kelly Thomas - Dr. Kelly Thomas is a Vice President at BakerRisk and leads the Blast Effects Section. His work at BakerRisk over the last 22 years deals with the characterization and modelling of flammability & explosion related phenomena with a focus on the prediction and testing of blast loads from accidental explosions. Dr. Thomas has also participated in the investigation of numerous accidental industrial explosions while at BakerRisk. Prior to BakerRisk, he worked for 10 years at the Savannah River National Lab, with a focus on flammability & explosion related phenomena. Dr. Thomas serves as a principal on the NFPA Explosion Protection Systems technical committee.
