Over the past 18 months, we’ve engaged in, and learned from, about 50 potential projects utilising the Shell Blue Hydrogen Process. These projects include heavy energy users striving to lower the carbon intensity of their products, single entities looking to convert natural gas to clean fuel and consortiums involving a number of smaller emitters collaborating with an anchor emitter.

The curtailment of renewable generation has increased significantly over the last few years in California, and is starting to affect the deployment of new renewable generation. Hydrogen can provide a lot of value, as an energy storage medium, transportation fuel, and to firm up the grid and increase resiliency, especially when produced from low-cost electricity.
